Psychological Problems

Here you will find a number of pages looking at various psychological difficulties. Some pages will look at the general principles of trying to understand distress by focusing on the normal psychological processes involved and in particular the thinking and internal logic of these difficulties. Some pages will deal with particular difficulties and for convenience will sometimes use their diagnostic names, although the aim will be to make these understandable in terms of ordinary psychological process. For example, there will be a page about so-called “agoraphobia”, but this will be described in terms of how the person is in effect drawing a map of their safe and unsafe places as a way of protecting themselves.
